Teeth whitening in Perth — in-chair & take-home
Brighten your smile safely under dentist supervision. We offer in-chair whitening for fast results and custom take-home trays for gradual change at your own pace. Both are safer than off-the-shelf strips.
Whitening options
Quoted after consultation
In-chair whitening (one visit) · Custom take-home trays (2-4 weeks) · Combination of both
Pricing depends on the option chosen and the starting shade of your teeth. We assess and quote in writing before any treatment.
Thin shells bonded to the front of your teeth
Veneers cover the front surface of your teeth — typically made from porcelain or composite resin. They resist stains, mimic the light-reflective properties of real enamel, and are made to match your existing teeth.
Common reasons for veneers:
- Cover problem or discoloured teeth
- Close gaps between teeth
- Cover broken, chipped or worn teeth
- Improve the look of irregularly shaped, misaligned or uneven teeth
In-chair vs take-home — which one for you?
In-chair whitening
One visit, around 60-90 minutes. A protective gel is applied to gums, then a stronger whitening gel is activated on your teeth (sometimes with a light). Visible results that same day. Best when you have an event coming up.
Take-home trays
Custom-fitted whitening trays you wear at home with a milder gel for 30-60 minutes a day over 2-4 weeks. Gradual results. Best for sensitive teeth or when you prefer to control the pace.
Combination
Start with in-chair for a head start, then maintain with take-home trays. Best long-term results.
Safer than off-the-shelf whitening
Over-the-counter whitening strips and toothpastes use lower-concentration gels but offer no protection for your gums and no assessment of underlying problems. Dentist-supervised whitening uses higher-concentration gels safely, with protection for soft tissue and assessment of your starting shade and tooth health.
Sensitivity managed
If you have sensitive teeth, we adjust the concentration and timing to minimise discomfort. Over-the-counter products can't.
Even results
Custom-fitted trays ensure the gel contacts every tooth surface evenly. Off-the-shelf strips often miss spots.
Realistic expectations
Some stains don't whiten well (medication-stained teeth, dead teeth). We tell you upfront if whitening alone won't reach your goal — and discuss veneers or composite bonding as alternatives.
How long does whitening last?
Results vary with diet and lifestyle. Most patients enjoy noticeably whiter teeth for 1-3 years before any top-up is desired. Heavy coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco use shorten that timeframe. Custom take-home trays are kept after treatment so you can do a short top-up whenever desired.

Does teeth whitening damage enamel?
When done under dentist supervision with proper concentration and timing — no. Enamel is not damaged by approved whitening gels at the strengths we use. Some patients experience temporary sensitivity that resolves within 1-2 days.
How white can my teeth actually get?
It depends on your starting shade, age and the cause of staining. Most patients see 2-8 shades brighter. We assess at consultation and give you a realistic expectation before starting.
Will whitening work on crowns, veneers or fillings?
No — whitening only affects natural tooth enamel. Crowns, veneers and fillings stay their original colour. If you have visible crowns or veneers on front teeth, we plan whitening around those (e.g. whitening first, then matching new restorations to the whiter shade).
How much does whitening cost in Perth?
Pricing depends on the option chosen and your starting shade. We quote in writing after the consultation. Many private health funds cover whitening under extras cover — we'll check yours.
Can I whiten my teeth if I'm pregnant?
We don't recommend it during pregnancy. There's no evidence it's harmful, but as a precaution we ask patients to wait until after the baby is born and breastfeeding has finished.
